ShAkE tHe DuSt

This is for the preteens, for the wallflowers, for the dazed and confused. This is for the adventurous. This is for the hesitant. Shake the dust. This is for the honest and pure toddlers, for the balling babies, for the grouchy old men, for the out of control teens. This is for the mothers.Shake the dust.
This is for the emotionally abused. For the mailman, for the retired rockstar.
This is for the indifferent and for the ambitious. Shake the dust. This is for the least protected. This is for the little girl in her princess dress, for the roudy boy on his tricycle. This is for the vulnerable teenage girl and for the drug addicted teenage boy.Shake the dust. This is for the trapped.
This is for the kids stuck in a desk and dreaming og being anywhere else but here
This is for the criminal stuck behind bars, filled with regret. This is for the one in the corner and for the fly in the spider web. Shake the dust.

So grab this world by it's clothespins and shake it out again and again and jump ontop and take it for a spin and when you hop off shake it again, for this is yours.

Do you ever wonder what makes a person who they are? Well I do...on a pretty regular basis.
Some say that its all in the genetics. Like when you were born, you came wired a certain way and there really isn't any changing it. Others say that you learn how to act when you are little and everything after that is strictly habbit and it doesn't matter. Well I disagree. Although we do learn things when we are little like table manners, how to be polite to strangers, and not to push any kid off of the swing on the playground, I think that what we do and who we are is up to us. We can change ourselves at any given moment. Like walking down the hallway at school and we do something that we just then realize we aren't exactly the biggest fans of. Its then and there in that specific spot that I decide to change it. It could seriously be ANYTHING. Large or small. There are hundreds and hundreds of things that I believe can we tweaked inside of us to create a more genuine, and real person... someone who can reach all of their potential and still make sure that they are doing everything that they can for others along the way. Screw genetics and screw habbit. Who I am is up to me and nobody else.

I'm ThInKinG aBoUt YoU

I'm thinking about you. I'm thinking about you like stars think about the sky. Like fish think about water. Like birds think about flying. I'm thinking about you like girlfriends think about diamonds. Like miners think about jewels. Like boyfriends think about the cost of diamonds. I'm thinking about you like husbands think about wives. Like mothers think about children. Like children think about teddy bears. I'm thinking about you like boxers think about gloves. Like hearts think about love. Like teenagers think about love. I'm thinking about you like books think about knowledge. Like graduates think about college. Like a potato wedge.

INTRODUCTION

Hey:) My pen name is Alicia Keys. To me, she isn't just a talented singer, but an ideal role model of charity, confidence, intelligence, and sophistication. Despite her fame and fortune, she has been able to keep her sense of self and realize what is truely important.

This is an example of who i would like to be someday.

Writing is something new to me. Although I enjoy to write, I find that I am not as good of a writer as I would like to be. I would like to improve greatly on my writing ability because I do believe that writing is a great tool of expressing one's self. Words may just be words to some, but I believe that if channeled correctly they can be truley powerful. I'm not saying that I will one day write "I have a Dream" powerful or the words of Mother Teresa powerful, but maybe one day I will be able to write what really goes on in my mind and somehow give my audience the chance to feel the same power reading them as I feel writing them. It's a long shot..but maybe I will be able to do it...ONE DAY!
